Between sea and mountains: that’s the best way to describe La Gaude. From Villa Angel, you reach the beaches in about twenty minutes and the Baou trails in just a few.
The nearest beaches
- Villeneuve-Loubet and Cagnes-sur-Mer (about 20 minutes): long, easy-to-reach pebble beaches with beach restaurants.
- Antibes and Juan-les-Pins (about 30 minutes): sandy beaches, coves on Cap d’Antibes, old town and harbour.
- Nice (about 20 minutes): the Promenade des Anglais and its beaches, with Old Nice just behind.
- Villefranche-sur-Mer (about 25 minutes): one of the most beautiful bays on the coast.
On very hot days, the villa’s quiet pool is often the best option.
Hiking on the Baous
The Baous are the limestone cliffs overlooking La Gaude, Saint-Jeannet and Vence. Their trails offer spectacular views over the whole Baie des Anges.
- Baou de Saint-Jeannet: the area’s signature hike, starting from the village of Saint-Jeannet, a few minutes from the villa. Allow half a day there and back, with a good climb.
- La Gaude trails: gentler walks through hills, olive groves and old farming terraces.
- Tips: set off early in summer, take water and good shoes, and avoid days of strong mistral.
Other activities
- Mountain biking and climbing in the hinterland.
- Kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing on the coast.
- Pétanque, table tennis and trampoline… without leaving the villa.
